Internationally educated professionals can apply for CTTAM certification prior to arrival in Canada (Manitoba).
CTTAM recognizes relevant international work experience so you can receive either a C. Tech. (Certified Technician) or a C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist) designation if you meet the requirements for certification. You will need two years or more relevant work experience that can be verified by three references.
Your program of study must be accredited under the Technology Accreditations Canada website https://www.technologyaccreditation.ca/National-Accreditation/Overview or be recognized under an international engineering accord https://www.ieagreements.org (Washington or Sydney) to be eligible for Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) If your program is not accredited, you will be eligible for Certified Technician (C. Tech.)
Note: Applicants educated in the Philippines and who were/are a member of the Professional Regulatory Commission in the Philippines can attach a copy of their PRC card to their application. Expired PRC cards are accepted. Your academics will be recognized at the technologist level.
All internationally educated professionals are required to provide CTTAM with a World Education Services (W.E.S.) ICAP (course-by-course) academic evaluation. The WES website has information on how to apply for a W.E.S. academic evaluation.
Once you have graduated and obtained your W.E.S. ICAP academic evaluation, you can apply for certification with CTTAM through our online application portal at www.technologyregistrationscanada.ca

To apply with CTTAM:
1. Go to the Technology Registrations Canada website at https://www.technologyregistrationscanada.ca and set up an account. You will be asked to provide contact information as well as information about your education.
2. You will need to get your international academics assessed through World Education Services Canada by obtaining a W.E.S. ICAP (course-by-course) academics evaluation at https://www.wes.org/ca/evaluations-and-fees/professional-license-certification/engineering-related There is a cost to have the academic assessment done but this would provide a comparison of your academics to Canadian academic standards and validate your academics.
3. You will need to complete a self-assessment by selecting general competencies as well as a minimum of four (4) discipline-specific competencies as part of the self-assessment that all applicants must complete as part of the online application process. It is important to select as many indicators as possible under each competency that are relevant to your international work experience. Competencies are national technology benchmarks used to assess technical work experience. To validate the education portion of the competency, you can enter your diploma info. To validate the work experience, you can reference projects, etc. that you have worked on with your previous employer.
4. You will need to provide contact information for three (3) references that can validate your work experience
5. On the attachment tab, you will be required to attach:
a. Copies of your diploma and transcripts.
b. A job description from your previous employer if you can have one.(if you are not employed, upload your resume here)
c. A work history. The work history is the work experience part of a resume. It is important to record your work experience using both months & years (ex. January 2017 to current) detailing your international work experience.
d. You will need to provide two forms of identification.
e. Your WES ICAP (course by course evaluation)
Note: All documents must be in .PDF format to upload on the Technology Registrations Canada website.
Your application will be reviewed to ensure that you have provided all the relevant information and documents.
There is a $200.00 application fee. After you have submitted your application through the TRC website, you will be sent an email requesting payment of the $200.00 application fee. CTTAM accepts EFT’s, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards. When you have paid the application fee, you will be sent the link to the CTTAM ABC exam and a link to the study manual. Email triggers will also be sent to your three references so that they can complete the online reference questionnaire.
As part of the application process, you will be required to write the CTTAM online ABC Exam that all applicants are required to take as part of the application process. The exam contains 49 multiple-choice questions, and you will be provided with a study manual. The exam is based on the Certified Applied Science Technologists Act of Manitoba, CTTAM’s By-law and Code of Ethics. You can write the online exam at any time (24/7).
For your application to be forwarded to a file reviewer, you will need to have written and passed the CTTAM ABC exam and all three of your references must have completed the online reference questionnaire.
Please note that application processing times vary depending on factors such completion of the CTTAM ABC Exam and how quickly we receive reference responses. While processing times may vary, we aim to review applications within 1–4 weeks..
After you become certified with CTTAM, annual membership dues apply and are $235.00.

Appeals
All applications are subject to approval. You will be advised of the title for which you are eligible before paying the application fee.
• If your academic credentials are not TAC or IEA Accords accredited, you are eligible only for the C.Tech. designation. There is no appeal of this academic eligibility decision.
• Applicants approved as C.Tech. may take a technical examination to reclassify to C.E.T. Details are available at: https://cttam.com/technical-exams
• If your academic credentials are accredited but your work experience is determined not to meet the Technologist level, an appeal is available. CTTAM assesses only work experience gained within the past 10 years.
Appeal Process
1. Contact CTTAM by email to discuss your approved title and the reason you wish to appeal.
2. If CTTAM determines your application is eligible for appeal, a $500 non-refundable appeal fee applies.
3. You will be advised of any additional information or documentation required (this may include a competency summary or a competency examination).
4. Your application will be reviewed by the CTTAM Appeals Committee (discipline-specific and subject-matter experts).
5. You will be notified of the outcome within 1–4 weeks.
